Join us for another night of acoustic excellence with Sophie Rogers and Matthew Scott.
Doors open at 6.30 with the music starting at 7.30.
2015 saw flame haired songstress Sophie Rogers release her debut album, Two Sides(SAY nominated 2016), throughout a Sold Out Headline Scottish tour and Sold Out Glasgow Launch Show.
Since then Sophie has been far and wide across UK venues playing live shows, making TV appearances and playing radio sessions. Summer of 2015 saw Sophie complete a successful tour of NYC and Toronto City, playing key venues like Rockwood Music Hall.
Her sound is Celtic, folk, lyrical with a strong soulful voice and mainstream appeal. Often described as pure Caledonia soul. 2016 started with a bang and several appearances at Celtic Connections festival, Sophie is now back in the studio writing and getting ready to record new material!
Born and raised in the West Coast of Scotland, Matt Scott is a young solo artist driven by folk and blues influences. The tones of Frankie Miller, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen are recognisable in Matt’s delivery, though the original work has been tailored in a form of its own providing a bridge to a contemporary and grounded sound.
Playing across the country, Matt has a highlight of headlining the prestigious King Tuts as well as performing as far afield as Canada. Having taken a brief break from performing, a drive in his music has reappeared with the announcement of the debut EP “Stairway songs: from Hillfoot Avenue, Rutherglen”- an earthy, rough take on Matt’s original work. Since the EP’s release in March, Matt has played extensively, most notably being invited to play exclusively for Scottish Legend, Frankie Miller as he was recognised by the Lord Provost of Glasgow for his outstanding contribution to Music and Performance. Further performances have seen Matt share the same stage with members of Del Amitri, Love and Money, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Ben Caplan, and many more.
